Weddings and Commitment ceremonies at Lifton Hall

The Lifton Hall is the perfect venue for smaller wedding or commitment ceremony celebrations. The hotel, which is Grade II listed, has been described as one of Devon’s most attractive and interesting hotels and is brimming with period features and traditional character.

We offer a flexible, bespoke service to make sure that your special day is exactly what you both want and that you remember it for all the right reasons.  

A perfect setting

Our entrance hall, with its gothic features, Cornish slate floor and winding staircase leading to a galleried landing, provide the perfect backdrop for your photos. It's also ideal for receiving your guests as they arrive.

Outside we have a large car park surrounded by mature shrubs and a split level garden with mature trees, providing another photo opportunity, with views across some beautiful countryside to Dartmoor National Park.

Your wedding breakfast and evening catering

Our dining room is the ideal place for your wedding breakfast. The decor is simple and calming, with crisp, white and cream table linen. We have white crockery, silver cutlery and sparkling glassware.

The room and tables can be decorated to match your own wedding colours, making Lifton Hall an individual venue for your special day.

For your evening celebrations the dining room can be transformed into a dance room for a disco or a live music event.

For the wedding breakfast we can comfortably seat 45 people in our dining room. The layout of our bar, dining room and lounge allows us to accommodate evening celebrations of varying sizes. By using all the areas we can accommodate groups up to about 120 (or so) people, but are equally comfortable with smaller parties using one area only. We can also expand our indoor areas with the addition of a marquee on the patio.

For spring and summer weddings our dining room has French doors that open onto the patio where your guests can sip their drinks in the warm evening air.

Bespoke menus

Menus are individually created for you by our head-chef who will discuss with you what you would like. We can happily take care of all your catering requirements - from a light finger buffet to a sumptuous four-course meal, or something less formal, such as a hog-roast on our patio. Given enough notice we can usually provide whatever you wish, from a Chinese banquet to a chocolate fountain. We want every detail of your special day to be tailored especially for you, so please ask.

We can also provide a wedding cake, decorated to your unique requirements by our aard winning chef.

Guest accommodation

If your guests would like to stay overnight we have ten large, en suite rooms - eight doubles and two twin rooms. All rooms can be used for single occupancy and include digital flat-screen TV, direct dial phones and tea and coffee making facilities. A full Devonshire breakfast is included.
