How To Find Us

On foot or by cycle

If you're walking or cycling around the south west and coming to stay at Lifton Hall on your route, we're very easy to find. You will no doubt already have a route planned taking in Lifton, which lies on the old A30 and not that far from the new one! The hotel is on the main road - New Road - through the village. Take a look at the map below.

We have plenty of space for bicycles and can lock them away in the shed if required. Muddy boots are no problem, as long as they're taken off outside! If you'd prefer a room with a bath so you can have a long, hot soak - just let us know when booking your room.

If you have luggage that you don't want to carry or transport we are part of the Luggage Transfer scheme in place across the whole of the South West - please contact us for details.

By bus

Lifton village is on the 510 bus route that runs between Exeter and Newquay via Okehampton, Launceston, Camelford and Wadebridge. The bus is operated by Western Greyhound and stops in Lifton six times a day - Monday to Saturday - and once on a Sunday or Public Holiday.  The bus stop is just outside the hotel. Visit the Western Greyhound website for details of the 510 route and bus times.

By rail

There are no train stations very close to the hotel. Exeter St David's is the better option if you're travelling from the east or 'up country' and is on the line to Penzance. It takes approximately 3 hours from London (Paddington or Waterloo), and not much more if coming from places like Manchester or Birmingham. Taxis can usually be caught outside the station, but its often cheaper if you ask us to arrange a taxi to pick you up. It's also possible to catch a bus from Exeter St David's station (see below).

Plymouth station may be better if you're travelling up from Cornwall. Again taxis can be arranged to pick you up.

Local taxi companies include:

Launceston Taxi 01566 785364
Dan's Travel 07792 925374
Castle Cabs 07866 548075
Kenzie Cabs 07776 200992
4Hire Taxi (Tavistock) 01822 618440

By car

From the M5 heading south west
From junction 31 at Exeter (and the end of the M5) take the A30 heading for Okehampton. Stay on the A30 for about 40 minutes, passing Okehampton, heading for Launceston. Leave the A30 at the Liftondown exit and follow the signs for Lifton - Hotels and B&Bs. Continue through the village, and our hotel is on your left shortly after the post office and stores. The car park entrance is immediately after the hotel building. We look forward to seeing you.

From Cornwall
Take the A30 out of Cornwall. Leave the A30 at the Liftondown exit and follow the signs for Lifton - Hotels and B&Bs. Continue through the village, and our hotel is on your left shortly after the post office and stores. The car park entrance is immediately after the hotel building.

By air

Our closest airports are Newquay, Plymouth or Exeter. Bristol airport is also fairly close and offers more flights. We can arrange for a taxis to collect you from any of these airports. Car hire is also possible.
